You are invited to a traditional Swedish Lucia celebration in Sydney!

Find your moment of Zen before the silly season! Come and take a deep breath, soak up the Swedish Christmas spirit and meet new and old friends over an Advent fika, enjoy a cuppa with a saffron bun – Lussekatt – and ginger bread in our pop-up café during SiS’s traditional Lucia celebration. Nothing smells more like a Swedish Christmas than mulled wine! And now you can finally get real mulled wine in Australia! As a special treat, this year you can enjoy a mug of The Mulled Wine Co. mulled wine on site or stock up for the Christmas festivities. NB! Bring cash – Cash Only.

We play games and dance in traditional style around the Christmas tree – we will have ring dancing for small children as well as playful adults. The children can try their luck at fishing in the fish pond – the Swedish version of a lucky dip. Raffle tickets for sale with great prizes.

We do it together!

Together we create loads of Swedish Christmas ambience with Christmas songs and Lucia. SiS Lucia is a great opportunity to partake in an old Swedish tradition and mingle amongst new and old friends, young and old.

SCHEDULE

11am                               The Event Opens

We will be preparing for the ring dance. The café opens – mingle and fika* with mulled wine from our pop-up café. If the weather permits, we play some games in the park outside – adults and children alike *fika is at the core of Swedish culture – like a social glue 

12:15pm to 12:45pm   Song and Dance around the Christmas tree. Young and old!

12:45pm to 1pm           Preparation for Lucia!

We create the Lucia procession and experience together! We’re calling all children and adults who wish to partake. NB! You must register if you are interested See intro.

1:00pm to 1:20pm        Lucia procession!

1:30pm to 2:30pm        Mingle and fika with mulled wine

Games in the garden if the weather permits

2.30pm                           The event is closing

Entrée: $5 for adult/kids under 16 year of age go in for free.           

NB! The times of the activities are approximate. The schedule may change.

WHERE: 7 Macpherson Street, West Ryde, NSW 2114

The event is held in The Temple Society’s premises.

PUBLIC TRANS.: 7 minutes walk from the nearest train station which is Meadowbank.

TIME: 11:00-14:30 (approximately)

PARKING: On street parking

Admission: $5 per adult/free admission for children under 16 years of ag. Purchase your ticket HERE NB! only pre-purchased tickets allow entrance.
