Who would have thought a year could go by so fast? We have already had a whiff of the scent of mulled wine in the distance and started dreaming of the queen of light – Lucia – and her entourage, star boys and Santas. Welcome to Swedish Lucia celebration in Sydney!
So, take a moment out of your busy schedule and find your moment of Zen!
You are welcome to take a deep breath, leave the year behind and recharge for Christmas with Swedish Women in Sydney Association (SiS). All while soaking up the Swedish Lucia and Christmas atmosphere, catching up with old friends and meet new ones, over an Advent coffee in our pop-up café during SiS’s traditional Lucia celebration. We serve saffron buns and gingerbread, tea, and coffee, plus drinks for the little ones. Welcome to Swedish Lucia Celebration in Sydney!
Nothing smells more like Swedish Christmas than mulled wine. We will be serving mulled wine during the day.

SiS Lucia is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of an old Swedish tradition and mingle amongst friends of all ages. Together we create loads of Swedish Christmas ambience with Christmas and Lucia songs.
PS! You may or may not be familiar with the concept of Lucia. We will have ring dancing around the Christmas tree for the little ones as well as the big kids (aka adults) led by the grand Queen of ring dancing in NSW – guaranteed superior results.
The children can try their luck at fishing in the fishpond. Lottery sale and great prizes.
If the weather permits, we will play games in the garden (adults and kids).

SCHEDULE
1pm The Event Opens
We will be preparing for the ring dance. The café opens – mingle and fika* with mulled wine from our pop-up café. If the weather permits, we play some games in the park outside – adults and children alike *fika is at the core of Swedish culture – like a social glue
2:15pm to 2:45pm Song and Dance around the Christmas tree.
2:45pm to 3pm Preparation for Lucia!
We create the Lucia procession – this uniquely Swedish tradition – together! We are calling all children and adults who wish to take part. NB! You must register if you are interested. See intro.
3:00pm to 3:30pm Lucia procession!
3:30pm to 4pm Fishpond
4:00pm Event is completed.

WHERE: 7 Macpherson Street, West Ryde, NSW 2114
The event is held in The Temple Society’s premises.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: 7 minutes’ walk from the nearest train station, which is Meadowbank.
WHEN: Saturday 9 December
TIME: 1pm-4pm (approximately)
PARKING: On street parking
